Back On Track

There's nothing like an updated site to kick off a new Total Chaos ball season! We have a new/old coach (me) and new players & friends to make things just the way they should be. =) A BIG WELCOME goes out to Tina, Kathy, April, Bobby, Justin, Rodney and Carl. I hope you enjoy our team as much as we do!

A huge thank you goes out to Derek and Robert for coaching the women's team again and to Julz for keeping me straight with the co-ed team.

A little update for all of you on Jessica... She was released from her doctor's care yesterday for her torn ACL and is back to 100% with range of motion. YAY!!! She will probably come back this season as a DH, but she needs to work on getting her leg/knee stronger before she can play in the field.

Vicki is still working on her back and will hopefully be able to play some this season. She will (of course) still be at the games, with Lisa at her side, to support us and help base coach as needed.

Speaking of Lisa... If you didn't get my earlier email, Lisa is running in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure again this year. Last year, both Total Chaos teams were able to raise around $100 to donate in Lisa's name. I am collecting again on Lisa's behalf and will take donations at any game through the end of April. Hopefully all of those challenges that were going around will hold true and we can raise more for her this year. =) All donations have to be turned in by the 1st of May, so don't forget to bring your money to the games.

That's all for now! Please remember that you're all welcome to post on the blog at any time. Just email me so I can list you as an admin.

See ya tonight!

Chris

Schedule Changes

For those that check our Blog for the schedule, please note that we have a schedule change for next week's game. We now have a double header on June 9th instead of a single game.

Please let Matt know if you can not make it to any of these games.

Drag Queen Barbie Bingo - April

This months Drag Queen Bingo is April 17th. "Cocktails with the Queens" starts at 6pm in the Cocktail Lounge. Doors Open to guests at 6:30pm... the early birds get the best seats!!! Game show kicks off at 7:30pm with featured entertainment by (the "Green Queen" herself) BIG SHIRLI STEVENZ, Crystal Frost, Fucsia Rage, Akasha Diamond, and special guest Sassi Stevenz. All events take place at The Empire Room located at 203 South Elm Street, Greensboro, NC.

Green Queen BINGO – it’s bingo with a twist! Green Queen Bingo has become the must attend event in downtown Greensboro. Sponsored by the Guilford Green Foundation (GGF), each bingo draws a multitude of diverse groups for a night of fun and enjoyment. Each bingo game is sponsored by local businesses and individuals who provide monetary support to join Big Shirli Stevenz, the Green Queen herself, on stage to draw and announce the winning numbers. Game sponsorships, along with ticket sales, raffles and concession proceeds go to fund various Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transsexual (GLBT) initiatives in Greensboro though GGF’s grants program. In 2007, GGF granted $70,000 dollars back into our community.

Information posted with permission from Drag Queen Bingo.

I'm not sure who's rounding up this months outing for our group. I (unfortunately) won't be able to go to DQB or meet up with y'all afterwards (I have a show that weekend). If you'd like to go, please post a comment here and we'll get something going.

See you all Tuesday night for the game!

Giving to the Susan G Koman Run

Hi all! I wanted to re-post this on the blog just in case any emails are lost or not received.

We've talked about giving to charities as a team before and this is the perfect time to start. Vicki's (on our women's team and soon to be on the co-ed team) girlfriend, Lisa, is participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for Breast Cancer and is looking for donations to support her and the foundation. I thought it would be great if we could give a monetary donation as a group... Total Chaos. The race is May 2nd, so we have plenty of time to collect money. No amount is too small, so even if it's $1.00, it's a $1.00 more than they had. If you'd like to contribute, please bring what you can to the ball games over the next few weeks and turn it in to me. I'll make a lump sum donation for Lisa's run about a week before the event. To visit Lisa's page about the run, please click here. Her goal is $125, but let's see if we can bust that wide open.

Thanks guys!

Update from the Coach's corner

All:

Congrats on winning our opener, 10-2, vs AAR.

It was somewhat of a warm-up game for us....showing areas where we can improve(fielding - pop ups and grounders), and got us acclimated to the new 3rd Strike foul-out rule(we have to stop swinging for the fence). We were very fortunate that our first game was against AAR.

The feedback I got back from my scouting agent is that some of the other teams are powerhouses. Burchette from last year, split into two very strong teams, and two of the new teams hired some lumberjacks. We will not have fun having a team pound us for a 30 minute inning, as Derek and I witnessed in a game prior to ours. We want to be ready....which I will be sending out a practice for this Sunday(weather looks 60ish and sunny).

Overall, we did great. Our team is just that, A team! I want to thank Jen and Heather M, for helping me with the book, and Chris always for her support! Speaking of which, Chris has elected to put together a blog for the team: http://www.totalchaoskville.blogspot.com/ I have attached Chris' email below.

Also, I have to give kudos to Derek for pitching a great game(no walks from what I can read or remember), and identifying some of AAR's weaknesses!

Our next game is against the Giving Kiosk(Turkey Buzzards) at 6:30pm on field 3! As ususal, let me know if you cannot make it!

-Coach K

PS. Chris, You did a great job with this. It kicks *ss!
